Engage Key Stakeholders

This component focuses on engaging key partners, aligning priorities, and ensuring organisational support to implement best-PIVC use. Structured engagement activities are crucial for maintaining clinician interest and momentum throughout the implementation phase. Examples of practical engagement and promotional activities are outlined below.

Health services are encouraged to establish strong organisational support to enable the implementation of evidence-based PIVC practices. This includes securing executive endorsement to support local policy updates, Medical Record system modifications, and education and training for clinical staff.

1. Local stakeholder engagement is essential and can be achieved through semi-structured focus groups and/or by recruiting key stakeholders to participate in site working groups or serve as local clinical champions.

These documents have been adapted from Stakeholder Mapping Guide.

2. Consumer and community involvement should be embedded throughout the implementation process to ensure a patient-centred approach. Refer to the Health Research Hub Consumer Guide for practical guidance.

Ongoing promotion is essential to sustain engagement during implementation.
